Margy's Favorite Skin Care

Posted by Margy Squires on 1/25/2017 to Anti-Aging

Natural skincare with research results! As a protective covering, skin is subject to damage becauseMargy Squires it is exposed to sun, wind and oxidation. With time, loss of skin collagen causes the skin to "sag", all too obvious when you look in the mirror!

Since the skin is your largest organ, what you put on your skin should not be harmful as it will be absorbed. Two big offenders in skin care products are parabens (linked to cancer), and phtlates (potential disruptors of growth and reproductive hormones). While I have been careful to use products without dyes, parabens and the like, being diagnosed celiac meant I had one more ingredient to avoid: gluten. My search led me to DERMA E several years ago and after trying several of their products, I found my favorite!

DMAE Firming Moisturizer. DMAE stands for diethyl MEA and it is related to the B vitamin choline, a precursor of acetycholine. DMAE helps increase production of acetylcholine, the chemical that causes muscle contraction. Thus, its role in skin creams is to firm skin by tightening and toning. While it is true that no cream can totally reverse skin sag entirely, with continual use of DMAE, a cumulative effect helps firm facial sag and slow further progression.

But that's not all. Interestingly, this moisturizer was compared to renowned Dr. Perricone's $75 Face Finishing Moisturizer in a double-blind clinical test of 55 women aged 37-65. The women applied one formula to the left side of their face and the other formula to the right side of their face in what is called a "split-face test". The products were coded so neither the subjects nor the technicians knew which side of the face had which product.

Now for the science of skin care. Results were measured by Corneometer and Cutometer devices at time points 0, 4 and 8 weeks. Participants also completed post-treatment comprehensive questionnaires. Both the objective data and subjective conclusions favored DMAE Firming Moisturizer as "visibly improving skin firmness, elasticity and hydration after 8 weeks of use."

Here are the results after 8 weeks of DMAE Firming Moisturizer use:

  • 100% demonstrated increased skin hydration
  • 87% demonstrated increased skin firmness
  • 76% reported skin felt more resilient
  • 76% reported skin looked more toned
  • 75% reported skin looked more lifted

A healthy difference. While each of the two products contain DMAE Firming and antioxidants alpha lipoic acid and C-ester, that is where the similarities stop. The DERMA E's formula also has jojoba oil and nourishing vitamins A and E. Plus, DERMA E is 100% vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, sulfate free, mineral oil free, lanolin free, phtlate free, gluten free and GMO free. Wow. No wonder DMAE Firming Moisturizer is one of DERMA E's top sellers. Now you know my secret for natural, effective skin care that is naturally good for my skin, too.

Try Margy's Favorite DMAE Firming Moisturizer. And you may want to check out the rest of the firming line, like the Cleanser and Toner. I use the whole line!

By the way, to help "mature" skin exfoliate, I use DERMA E's Microdermabrasion Scrub once a week. With Dead Sea salts and other "polishing" agents, the gentle scrub buffs away dead skin to encourage new, "younger" cells. You can also use it on knees and elbows for smoother skin there also. This duo combination works perfect for me and makes my skin feel fresh and glow-y.
